4 Best Hostels In Panama

Panama re-opened its borders to international travelers in early October and has since been in the eye of many nomads looking for a place to set up shop for the Northern Hemisphere’s winter. While the world remains deep in the fight against COVID-19 and the minimal contact afforded by an AirBnB or hotel room are preferable, if you’re going to panama and looking for a hostel to stay in, please enjoy this list of our top four hostels in Panama.

This hostel is actually a French colonial mansion! It is a boutique hostel and hotel, with beautiful shared spaces and a wide selection of rooms to accommodate solo travelers and couples, and larger groups alike. If you’re willing to spend a bit extra, may want to take advantage of the ‘Ballroom’. This ‘Ballroom’ has 12 single beds and is really unique and a big attraction. Every bed has a personal floor mounted fan, chair, plug socket, orthopaedic mattress, locker and free Wi-Fi access.

Nestled in the heart of Casco Viejo (Old Town), it is just steps away from all that you could possibly need and want during your stay and dozens of authentic Panamanian experiences. Hostal Casa Areka

Located in the vibrant district of Calle Uruguay, this hostel is a slice of tropical heaven. Its selling point is its outdoor pool and surrounding palm trees and completed with pool chairs, a hammock and has a barbecue area as well.

This hostel is also very well connected; it is the closest hostel to the Tocumen International Airport, has easy access to a bus station that connects the Panama Canal to Casco Vejo and is situated right across a 24hr convenience store. 

The hostel offers complimentary breakfast, organizes airport shuttle cabs and sailing trips, has a common room with a pool table and a table tennis table, a big kitchen and air conditioned rooms. It is also very safe for solo travelers so it has been a very popular name amongst backpackers.

Bambuda Castle

This is a one of a kind hostel in Panama and probably one of the only hostels int he world that you may never want to leave.
